RAILWAY 200

CLIENT: DG8 ENGINEERING

SCOPE: DESIGN AND BUILD INTERACTIVE EXHIBITS

The UK rail industry is marking a major milestone in 2025, the bicentenary of the modern railway, with the launch of Railway 200 and the touring Inspiration exhibition train.

Taking inspiration from our work at the Science Museum's Wonderlab, we collaborated with DG8 Design and Engineering, and Derby Engineering Unit, to design and build interactive exhibits for the Wonderlab on Wheels train carriage.

Wheels on Track challenges visitors to build and test a series of wheel axles on a chicane shaped course, simulating the clever physics keeping trains on the tracks.

Bridge Builder invites visitors to work co-operatively to create a structure that allows a train to pass beneath.

We redeveloped existing exhibits for a new environment. Everything was delivered on time and within budget.

We needed to coordinate closely with Network Rail, DG8 and Derby Engineering Unit to ensure our exhibits fit with the parameters of the train carriage. Materials and fabrication had to meet strict safety standards, and careful consideration was taking to ensure the exhibits were accessible for all users.
